Cooper Landing Sees Rise in COVID-19 Cases

Over the past few weeks there has been a slight uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases locally here in the Cooper Landing area. Despite citizens being vaccinated and boosted, the Delta variant and Omicron variant are continuing to wreak havoc on Alaska. While the overall infection and hospitalization rates are down dramatically from a year ago, there are still a significant number of ongoing cases. Fortunately, the severity of these cases has markedly decreased due to the vaccines.

Having said that, it is still important to continue wearing masks in public, social distancing, monitor for signs and symptoms, and isolate if you feel like you have been exposed or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. The State of Alaska has provided Cooper Landing Emergency Services with several cases of COVID-19 test kits. These kits are available through the U.S. Government via the U.S. Postal Service, and we also have them available at the Cooper Landing Fire Station. Should you have any need to obtain COVID-19 test kits, please call 907– 595–1800, email operations.cles@arctic.net or stop by our fire station at 38748 Snug Harbor Rd. and we will be glad to provide you with a COVID-19 test kit.
